Kendra’s husband has personally benefited from the use of cannabis. In 2012, Kendra’s husband broke his neck in a horse-riding accident. Although he avoided paralysis unlike 98% of the population with a similar break, he was prescribed a significant amount of opioids to manage the severe pain and quickly became concerned about their potential for addiction. He began using cannabis instead to treat his neck injury, which proved critical to his ability to manage his pain. This experience, along with an understanding how cannabis use could have positively impacted the life of her father, an epileptic, helped motivate Kendra to seek a career in cannabis.
Kendra served on the Board of Girls Inc., a non-profit that equips girls to navigate economic, gender, and social barriers and Sun Street Centers which prevents alcohol and drug addiction by offering education, prevention, treatment and recovery to individuals regardless of income level. She is currently serving as a Board Member of the San Benito Chapter of Girls Inc.
